Anglers – Take a Look at What’s Swimming Around San Juan Island

Kim and Karl Bruder sent photos of their morning activity. Kim writes, “Oh My Cod! It was an unbelievable morning here! Check out our catch…43″ 25 lb Ling Cod. It broke our net pulling it into the boat! It will live for another day! We had to let him go! But it was fun while it lasted!”

You can hear the excitement of this fabulous catch in Kim’s note. And check out Karl’s expression in some of these photos; it looks like he is really struggling to hold this baby up! The size limit for cod is 26″ to 36″, which is why they had to send the fish back to the depths, and rightfully so; this monster deserved to live another day. Ling cod make good eating, but they’re lots of fun to catch and throw back as well.

There’s good year-round fishing in the San Juan Islands. Contact our Guest Services Coordinator if you’d like us to help arrange your own fishing charter or combination fishing/whale watch charter while you visit. The photos don’t lie!
