The Fall Farm Parade on San Juan Island is truly the genuine deal. Everybody gets in the act: from island children with their favorite backyard chickens, prize turkeys and horses, to long-time island farm families with island-scale tractors and harvesters parading through Friday Harbor’s main streets to celebrate the resurgence of smalls farms and local food in the San Juans.
The parade begins at 2:30pm and travels down Argyle Avenue and Spring Street before heading to the Brickworks, a site historically known for the Friday Harbor Brick and Tile Company, an important local landmark recently saved from the wrecking ball. Today the Brickworks is home to the Farmers’ Market.
