San Juan Community Theatre’s biggest fundraiser of the year has extra special meaning in 2013: it’s the kick-off celebration of the Theatre’s 25th anniversary season.
The 2013 holiday festival, A Night of Stars, also kicks off the holidays with plenty of festival favorites and added new entertainment to the lineup on Sat. Dec. 7 starting at 5 p.m.
Roche Harbor Resort’s Bill Shaw and staff return with their ever-popular live cooking supper stations, fine wine and gourmet appetizers.
The festival’s traditional silent and live auctions include fine art, the return of CATS’ “Magic Bus,” plus an array of exciting experiences up for grabs (how about an aerobatic plane ride or a stay in an Italian villa?). For a complete listing of the auctions items, visit the theatre’s website.
Auctioneer Trish Lehman returns to the stage after a few years’ hiatus. The long-time islander is an auctioneer favorite who trained with the iconic Burl Osbourne back in the day. In addition, former SJCT executive director Merritt Olsen has agreed to venture back to the island and join Lehman to help celebrate this milestone for the theater he helped grow for more than a decade.
Island and theatre friends Penelope Haskew, Amanda Smith, Jill Urbach and Scott Mapstead will charm with song, and there will be a few short “look backs” at the theatre’s 25 years as an island treasure. The evening closes with dancing on the stage floor to the sounds of the San Juan Island Jazz Quintet with Jill Urbach.
