While many celebrated with roses and chocolate, San Juan Islanders celebrated their love of whales. On Valentine’s Day, the Town of Friday Harbor dedicated its first public art piece, “The Fluke” and just a few blocks away, the Whale Museum had a grand reopening after a 6 week closure to mount two new exhibits. The new exhibit tells the story of Sooke, a 3 year old Orca whale who washed ashore February 11, 2012 and the other is an interactive exhibit focusing on Gray whales telling their story from birthing to feeding. The museum is open daily from 10-5 and is located a few blocks from the Inns at 62 First Street.
