Recipe: Homemade Dog Bones

dog biscuits on a tray ready to be baked

If your pup has had the pleasure of staying at the Tucker House Inn & Harrison House Suites, there’s a good chance they got to nibble on our homemade dog bones as an afternoon treat. Now you can make more at home…

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup quick oats
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup water more if needed
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp natural peanut butter

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

In a mixer, combine water, oil, eggs, and peanut butter. Mix until well combined. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients and mix until well incorporated.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to about 1/8″ thick. Using cookie cutter, cut dough into bone shapes. Place shapes on a baking sheet that has been lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.

Bake for 10 minutes, remove from oven, turn treats over and return to oven to bake for another 10 minutes. Turn the oven off and leave treats in the oven for another 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely prior to serving to your dogs.

A cookie cutter about 2 inches in diameter yields approximately 18 dog treats.
