Recipe: Trail Mix

What is better for a day on the trail than a homemade batch of trail mix? If you want a healthier version, be sure the nuts and seeds are raw and omit any extra oil or salt. Here’s our recipe for you to try at home. Enjoy!

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 3/4 cup cashews
  • 2/3 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/3 cup sunflower seeds
  • 2/3 cup popcorn
  • 1/2 cup dried mango strips
  • 2 tablespoons dried cranberries or dried sour cherries
  • 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes
  • sea salt

Method: Chop any large ingredients if necessary to your bite-size liking. Sprinkle the whole mix with a dash of sea salt. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy! Bag up the trail mix and bring it with you on your next San Juan Island hike!
