On a nice day, you are welcome to sit outside and enjoy the fresh seaside air while watching the waves brush onto the beach at the edge of town.
Holly B’s Bakery
Holly B’s Bakery is going to be one of the best stops you make on Lopez Island. They are an island institution dating back to when owner Holly first opened her doors in 1976. In 2016 the ownership switched hands to current owner and pastry chef Stephanie Smith. Stephanie worked alongside Holly for many years before taking over the reins and this allowed her to maintain Holly B’s traditions while also leaving space to add her own touches to things.
Holly B’s is a fully organic and sustainable bakery. They believe in using as many local products as possible and supporting local agriculture and small business. Their grains are grown and milled in the Skagit Valley. Holly B’s is an artisanal bakery that offers fresh sourdough bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls, croissants, and almond butter horns. If you have never had an almond butter horn, you are in for a treat! The balance between the flaky pastry and luscious almond paste that melts in your mouth as though it was all butter will leave you craving more. Don’t worry about overindulging here; it’s worth it. Like they say at Holly B’s, “A bit of love and butter is all you need.”
