Two questions. Do you like to bike? Do you like beer? If the answer to both is yes then I have the PERFECT event for you! The San Juan Island Lions Foundation is putting on a “Bike-n-Brew” this summer. The event takes place on September 15, 2018. All of the proceeds from the event help fund the local club’s projects.
The Bike Ride ~ 11 am-4pm
Okay okay, now that you know the obligatory details, time for the fun part! Whether you’re an extreme cyclist or a casual biker, there are three courses available of varying lengths and difficulty.
All of the courses start and end at the San Juan County Fairgrounds in Friday Harbor. You can even add in some side excursions. There are multiple stops along the way to take in some of the beauty the San Juan Island offers. Once you finish your course then it’s on to the fun part!
The Brew ~ 4pm-9pm
And guess what? You just burned all of those calories biking so your body needs some refueling. What better way than local microbrews! The party moves to The San Juan County Fairgrounds for a selection of microbrews for tasting from San Juan Island, Lopez Island, and Orcas Island. For enthusiasts, brewmasters, brewers, and distributors will also be in attendance to chat about their fantastic brews. And of course, no day would be complete without dishes and desserts from Friday Harbor’s brilliant chefs.
What is the Purpose?
Besides having an epic day, you are doing more than you know by participating! The San Juan Island Lion’s Foundation is a huge contributor to our community. In the past 15 years they have been involved in numerous aspects of San Juan Island life. They grant post-secondary school scholarships, assist sight, hearing, and health programs, support Friday Harbor athletics, help fund the Christmas Ship program, and donate to various other charities.
