Edie & Art: Our Rainier Wedding Story

Edie and Art were planning a large fairy-tale wedding in South Carolina. They became overwhelmed with all the details, canceled the wedding and decided to elope. They asked their friend Susan to marry them. Susan, the innkeeper at the San Juan Island Inn Collection in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Washington became an officiant and took on the challenge. She enlisted the Collection’s Catering Team to make Edie and Art’s elopement a reality.

Susan hosted a Pacific Northwest Seafood Feast as an ice breaker the night before the wedding. It was a perfect opportunity for the team to meet Art and Edie. The dinner featured Westcott Bay Shellfish, a local farm on the island, and Rainier Beer!

The wedding day was magical. The bluff at Reuben Tarte Park provided a spectacular back drop overlooking the outer San Juan Islands for them to say, “I, Do”. Susan used the book No Matter What as the binder for the ceremony script, the moral being I love you, no matter what.

It was gratifying to give Edie and Art the fairy tale wedding they envisioned without the stress of a large wedding. We all walked away from those 24 hours so much richer with lasting memories and new lifelong friendships. The San Juan Island Inn Collection including the Harrison House Suites, Tucker House Inn and Coho Restaurant hosts destination weddings with catering and coordination services.
