We all vacation differently. Some of us may like to pack in the action, while others prefer to lay low. No matter what your vacation style is, yoga offers a great balance between activity and relaxation, and few places are more scenic than San Juan Island to find your zen. 1. The Studio

The Studio is located downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island and offers a wide variety of yoga classes for all ages and levels of experience. Classes range from Yoga Stretch, PiYo, Yoga over 50, Back to Fitness, Meditation, Bootie Camp Yoga, & Yoga Balance. 2. San Juan County Park

San Juan Island
The San Juan County Park offers a beautiful waterfront space for yogis who want to break into a yoga session of their own! While there, look out for Great Blue Herons or even Orca Whales! Keep an eye on their website for organized yoga classes led by an instructor.

3. Alchemy Art Center

San Juan Island
Thursdays 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Sundays 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Thursdays are Vinyasa Yoga with Sara. This active and invigoration yoga class offers the tradition of Vinyasa flow, seamlessly moving through yoga positions guided by breath.

Sundays are Hatha Yoga with Grace. Intentional Yoga to create awareness of the body and mind through breath, movement, and meditation. Subject to change based on season, check with staff before to confirm classes!

4. Reuben Tarte Park

San Juan Island

Reuben Tarte Park on the Northeast side of the island offers two small pebbly beaches separated by a rock bluff. The park looks out at Saturna, Flattop, Waldron, Sucia and Orcas Islands. To get there take Roche Harbor Road from town, turn right on Rouleau Road, turn right on Limestone Point Road, right on San Juan Drive and watch for the “Beach Access” sign at the parking turn-out on the left. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself in an upward dog in your own little slice of paradise.


5. San Juan Island Fitness

 Yoga uses the breath to unite the mind, body and spirit. This class incorporates Hatha and Vinyasa yoga methods. Hatha is basic Western yoga which concentrates on postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (prayanama). Vinyasa (flow yoga) is a form of hatha that incorporates sequential poses to link breath with movement.Concentration is on body alignment, proper breathing, mindful movement, range of motion, relaxation and restoration. Some benefits of a yoga practice are better sleep a stronger heart rate and lower blood pressure, improved muscle tone while benefiting overall health. San Juan Island Fitness also offers a Beginners Yoga Class.

7. Island Soul Studios, LLC

Island Soul Studios is blessed to have a wonderful array of gifted teachers in many different levels and types of yoga and movement to fit almost everyone’s needs.  Their website lists the classes available during the week. Class pricesvary according to each teacher and length of specific class. Price may range from Free, by Donation to $15.00. Before leaving San Juan Island, don’t forget this stop. It doesn’t get more picturesque than this island gem! With sweeping views of Haro Strait, Vancouver Island, the infamous Lime Kiln Lighthouse, and not to mention the Orca Whales that pass by from time to time! Bring your mat, find a suitable rock face and enjoy finding your balance while in one of the most scenic places in the PNW.
