Exploring other islands, while living in Friday Harbor is one of Grovers favorite things to do! Rain or shine he is ready to hop into the bike trailer for another adventure.

Shaw Island is a great biking island. It has mild hills and low mileage. An average bike ride is 10-12 miles. You will experience serene pastures and very few cars. Shaw does not offer amenities so make sure you pack a lunch or snack. There is only one general store when you get off the ferry and no other restaurants or stores.

Grover and I were caught in the rain, but we still enjoyed watching the alpacas on a farm, seeing other bikers with barely any cars! Shaw hase a nature preserve and a county park. We enjoyed a snack at the county park, while watching the waves. For an easy  bike day trip, Shaw is a nice, peaceful time.
