Although each season on San Juan Island offers a charming character of its own, prime time here is definitely what’s known as “peak season”. We’re talking June through September, when the island is full of bright sunshine, new faces, and all the local businesses have reopened up their doors for the Summer! After being in hibernation all year, here’s a list of local businesses you can expect to reopen for your summer vacation. Be sure to visit them while you can, after all, they’re all a short walk from your suite at the San Juan Island Inn Collection!
Friday’s Crabhouse
This casual seafood joint offers an unbeatable view of our beloved harbor. Sit up on the top deck or under the gazebo with a cold cocktail and some locally-caught Dungeness Crab while watching the ferries come and go. Hermosa
There isn’t a ton of Mexican food on the island, so get it when you can find it! Enjoy a unique lunch or dinner right downtown. This restaurant offers authentic tacos, tamales, burritos and more to satisfy your cravings. Friday Harbor Ice Cream
Our next business on our list is right across the street from Friday’s Crabhouse. Friday Harbor Ice Cream Co., conveniently located right on the water! With 30+ flavor varieties, they will surely have your favorite in stock. They do not offer seating so you’ll have to take your cone on the go. Be aware, this joint is cash only! The Bait Shop
Another business worth a visit is The Bait Shop, a self-proclaimed “fish & chips joint”. Located at 175 Spring St. Friday Harbor, WA you can stop in for a bite during your afternoon stroll downtown. They are open for service 11:00am to 4:00pm seven days a week. Reach them by phone at 360-378-0366.
Pier 1 Fish + Brew
Still haven’t gotten your fix of fish and chips? Head down to Pier 1 Fish + Brew to try this seafood stand’s table fare. Enjoy a cold local brew while sitting on their harbor-view deck.
