How to Plan Romantic Winter Getaways in Washington

With 11 beautiful guest rooms, suites, and cottages, the Tucker House Inn is the perfect homestead during your special weekend. Our Friday Harbor bed and breakfast offers luxurious amenities that are wonderful for couples, including two-person jacuzzi bathtubs, private balconies, and remote-controlled fireplaces. Plus, you can enjoy a gourmet three-course breakfast each morning to fuel up for a fun day ahead! Here are some tips for keeping that spark alive here on San Juan Island.

Whale Watching

Start your getaway with one of the most breathtaking and beloved activities available our area – whale watching. San Juan Island is home to three pods of Orcas that can be spotted by boat or from land frequently during the winter months. Humpback, Minke, and Gray whale sightings are common, and various native wildlife like bald eagles and sea lions create unbelievable experiences for spectators. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Wine Tasting

Located just three miles from Friday Harbor on Roche Harbor Road, San Juan Vineyards grows award-winning Madeleine Angevine, Siegerrebe, and Pinot Noir varietals. You and your loved one can visit their on-site tasting room situated in a historic one-room schoolhouse, or try your favorite flavors at their downtown tasting room on Spring Street, just half a block from the ferry landing. If the weather permits, feel free to stroll hand in hand through the vineyards for a truly romantic afternoon at the winery.

Meaningful Meals

After a day of fun and exploration, head to Coho Restaurant and warm up with a romantic meal in an intimate atmosphere. Our seasonal menu offers dishes prepared with the freshest and finest ingredients available, with many coming from the surrounding islands. You can start the evening with a glass of wine from our award-winning wine cellar, then enjoy succulent dishes like grilled wild King salmon, grass fed beef tenderloin, or a house-made ice cream dessert. Pair that with some eye-gazing, and this will be a dinner you’ll never forget!

Fall in Love with Friday Harbor

From breathtaking seascapes to exciting activities, romantic winter getaways in Washington are a dream come true. Plus, when you book your stay at the Tucker House Inn, we can arrange flowers, chocolates, champagne, a gift basket, or other special items in your room at check-in to surprise your significant other and make your stay as memorable as possible!
