There really is a lot to love about living in the San Juan Islands, which includes not only a daily dose of breathtaking natural beauty but also a deep dedication to our local businesses.  We love to share these businesses with our guests, too, including our friends at San Juan Island Brewing. San Juan Island Brewing, located here in Friday Harbor, shows incredible dedication to its craft and community. It’s a great place to relax and unwind, particularly after a day of hiking, biking, kayaking, or adventuring around the islands.

Like many local businesses in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island Brewing is within walking distance of our Bed and Breakfast. Our centralized location is only one great reason to stay with us, though. You’ll also enjoy delightful accommodations, exquisite made-from-scratch food, and unbeatable hospitality. Craft Beer at San Juan Island Brewing

Though there are a few wineries and distilleries on San Juan Island, San Juan Island Brewing is the only brewery. 100% of the beer produced by San Juan Island Brewing is made right here in Friday Harbor, which lends a distinct character and local flair to each of their brews. San Juan Island Brewing was founded by friends and long-time locals who saw the need to bring craft beer to the community. San Juan Island Brewing opened in 2017 and has been a thriving local business ever since.

The atmosphere is one of the things we love most about visiting San Juan Island Brewing, apart from their delicious selection of beer.  It’s an open-concept space with an outdoor patio, communal tables, and even a space for kids to play. They also provide an elevated selection of pub food too, which pairs well with their beers. All in all, it serves perfectly as a community gathering place, both for locals and visitors alike.

San Juan Brewing offers a couple of tasting flight selections and a rotating selection of their best beers on tap. They have a great range of craft beer to chose from, too, all of which are relatively low in alcohol and pair well with food. Their English Style Porter, Extra Special Bitter, and Pale Ale have all won awards recently. San Juan Island Brewing is open daily from 11 am – 8 pm.

Aside from San Juan Island Brrewing, the San Juans are home to some truly incredible tastings and foodie adventures

Savor the San Juans

San Juan Island Brewing may be the only brewery in Friday Harbor, but they aren’t the only one in the area. The neighboring Orcas Island is also home to Island Hoppin’ Brewery. They source their ingredients from local Washington farms and produce a range of drinkable beers from Seasonal Lagers to the Fresh Hopped Ales and even some Barrel Aged Sours.

In addition to these great breweries, the San Juan Islands are also home to several incredible wineries, distilleries, and cideries. On San Juan Island, you’ll find San Juan Vineyard, Madrone Cellars, Archipelago Wines, and Westcott Bay Cidery/San Juan Distillery. On Lopez Island, you’ll find Lopez Island Vineyards, and on Orcas Island, you’ll find Doe Bay Wine Company and Orcas Island Winery.

But the San Juan Islands really is about more than the drink in your glass. The San Juan Islands are home to an incredible range of farmers and artisan producers, too, each of whom exercises the same dedication to their craft as seen in our local breweries, wineries, and distilleries. This dedication to local ingredients is best experienced each fall at Savor the San Juans celebration.

2021 will be the 14th year of the SAVOR the San Juans celebration, which is a great time to enjoy farm tours and farmers markets, film festivals, a brew fest, wine dinners, wine tastings, and so much more. Many events are already scheduled throughout October and November but know you can also find a delicious taste of the San Juans at our exquisite Coho Restaurant.

Just steps away from our Bed and Breakfasts, Coho Restaurant is the best place to enjoy farm-to-table dining in Friday Harbor, which does a wonderful job of showcasing locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. We also offer a series of fall wine dinners, taking place on October 29, November 5, and November 12. Each one will showcase a different menu, thoughtfully paired with local winemakers and brewmasters. If you’re as excited as we are for these fall foodie adventures, then now is the time to book your room at our Friday Harbor Bed and Breakfasts.
