The summer season is upon us here at the San Juan Island Inn Collection which means we need all hands on deck! Luckily, our team up at the Tucker House and Harrison House is starting to grow. Our newest team member, Cam, is the perfect addition to our little family here. She is an island girl – a true local raised on San Juan Island. You’d never know it, but she is only 15 years old! She will be a Sophomore at Spring Street International School this September. Just before starting with us, our new team member went on a trip with her classmates to Guatemala!
Her Passion: Horses
Cam takes after her mom and grandma who are both horse lovers. Her mom created her own documentary, Taming Wild. And Cam does all of her mom’s social media for the documentary. Read about all the movies filmed in the San Juans here. On her grandma’s property where she lives, Cam has three horses. She rides on a regular basis and even gives riding lessons. This summer, we get to help her accomplish her goal of buying a new saddle! If you are also a horse lover, she is your go-to gal to talk with.
Where Will You See Her?
At the inns, we don’t really have job “titles” that really encompass what we do. And Cam’s position is no different! She makes granola and cookies on a regular basis for our guests and our many events. In the middle of batches, she may greet you and show you to your room or answer the phone to help you with all of your Island questions. She is also going to be helping with all of our catering events throughout the Island. So if you’re staying with us and also attending a wedding we’re catering, she will soon become a very familiar face!
Once you taste one of the treats she’s been making, you’d be shocked to learn that she had never before made a successful cookie before coming to work with us! After only a week, she has become a pro. And because we make cookies and granola in such mass quantities over the summer, she has made it more interesting by keeping track of how many dozen cookies and pounds of granola she makes. You’ll be amazed to hear her numbers by the end of the summer!!
