For more than 20 years, the Pelindaba Lavender Farm has welcomed visitors from around the globe to experience the beauty of these rolling purple fields. The team has worked hard to maintain its place as the premier grower of lavender plants, distiller of lavender essential oils, and handcrafter of lavender-based products on San Juan Island.

Here are five things to know about the Pelindaba Lavender Farm before you go:

  1. At the Pelindaba Lavender Farm, there are more than 25,000 plants of three different species in the organic fields and 50 different varieties in the demonstration garden. Essential oils are extracted from these plants at the on-site distillery and used to make various botanical, culinary, personal care, therapeutic, household, and pet care products. The farm is certified organic as well.
  2. Located about six miles from our Friday Harbor lodging property, the lavender farm is the perfect outing by car or bike. Head to the U-pick fields and grab a bunch of photos. Let us know if you’d like a picnic to bring along; the fragrant lavender fields are the perfect backdrop to lay out a blanket and enjoy a casual lunch. There are picnic benches and tents set up for shade as well.
  3. Before leaving Pelindaba Lavender Farm, browse their store, The Gatehouse, which features more than 200 lavender-based products. This year, they added some upgrades to the nursery, cafe, and exhibits at the Gatehouse. This is where you’ll find delicious lavender ice cream, lemonade, and cookies. Shop for personal skin care, therapeutic essential oils, culinary lavender products, and other things for the home. They sell their fantastic line of products online, too!
  4. For those who might be in the beginning phases of planning a big celebration or wedding, Pelindada Lavender Farm is available for special events from time to time throughout the year. We happen to offer some fantastic catering options at our Friday Harbor lodging; contact us for menus and quotes.
  5. If, for some reason, you can’t make it out to the farm, you’ll also find a Pelindaba Lavender Farm store within walking distance of our Friday Harbor lodging property. There’s a fantastic selection of sachets, skincare, and culinary products. They also have more than ten outposts around the country, so you may encounter this brand during your travels.
